SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector's basic functions revolve around the overall goal of preventing and/or correcting any quality problems as early in the production process as possible and to minimize the quantity of parts leaving our facility that do not meet our quality standards. Quality Inspector conducts quality checks, paperwork evaluation, and studies necessary to successfully carry out his/her duties. The Quality Inspector is to make recommendations for improvements to departments or processes that will result in eliminating the root cause of any quality issues.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Inspection during the manufacturing process, monitoring the production quality and ensure that each bus is built properly according to specifications.
  • Responsible for examining materials for quality and identifying defects. Ensures that people, equipment, and materials are used properly to maximize productivity.
  • Check parts, assemblies, and manufacturing processes on Bus against the specifications on the drawing to ensure they meet designated specifications.
  • Documenting all problems/errors found in drawings, bills of materials, jigs, equipment, processes, etc. and reporting these to the appropriate department for correction.
  • Maintaining this documented list and following up on open items until they are fixed and can be closed.
  • Ensure quality of manufactured product.
  • Examine materials from suppliers before sending them to production line.
  • Inspect components, subassemblies, assemblies, and completed Bus.
  • Test, measure, and analyze products.
  • Record pass/fail grade of products.
  • Produce detailed inspection reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position manages all employees of the quality department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

College degree preferred o Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing with supervisory experience.

3-5 years statistics, Experience of Quality Systems (preferably ISO 9001) and Six Sigma or other analysis experience preferred Advanced level computer skills.
