Job Goal: We are looking to hire a successful candidate who can assist the school bus driver in maintaining order on the bus, overseeing the loading and unloading of the passenger, and fulfilling their needs until the bus reaches its destination. They are the first person to step off the bus at every stop, ensure traffic conditions allow the student passengers to obey the rule and regulations set forth by the board of education while riding the bus. The bus aide must be able to get along with students and command their respect. They need to provide direct supervision over the conduct of student passengers. aides will be in a constant reflection of the company's commitment to safety and customer service. The aide is responsible for providing operational oversight day to day management, and assist drivers in the safe operation of routes.
Bus Aide Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Understand the route and remain alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while in the route
  • Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver
  • Assists in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
  • Assist the student in loading and unloading the process.
  • Cooperate and communicate with school personnel students and parents.
  • Attend all safety and training meetings.
  • Check and account for all student passengers and maintain order on the school bus.
  • Make certain students seated promptly after boarding the bus and remain seated until the bus reached its destination.
  • Seat and place students to conduct behavior.
  • Assist students in a wheelchair and apply safety and restraining devices as needed.
  • Assist students on and off the bus to prevent accident or injury and guide them to cross the street safely
Bus Aide Skills and Qualification:
  • Applicant must be 19 years of age
  • There is no minimum qualification for this position
  • Good general intelligence and good knowledge of the geography of the city
  • Familiar with various bus routes in the district and stopping routes for students
  • Able to relate to students and command their respect
  • Punctual, reliable and must have strong communication skill
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills
  • Motivational and communication skill
  • Able to learn and administer first aid
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demand for the position
  • Good vision and hearing, mental alertness, dependability, neat appearance
