Bus Driver

Position: Bus Driver (Multiple Positions Available)

Pay Rate: Bus Driver

Reports To: Transportation Manager

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Transportation Manager will assign a weekly schedule to the standby driver to ride assigned routes for the purpose of learning the routes.
  • Available to sub for a regular route bus driver as needed
  • If a vacancy shall become available during the school year, a standby driver will fill the position for the remainder of the school year at which time the route will be bid based on the regular route driver seniority list.
  • Obeys all traffic laws.
  • Observes all mandatory rules and safety regulations for school buses.
  • Performs a pre-trip inspection sheet and submits the form to the transportation office.
  • Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
  • Reports undisciplined students to the Transportation Manager and the school principal.
  • Keeps assigned bus clean.
  • Keeps assigned time schedule and route as authorized by the Board.
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips or in times of emergency.
  • Transports only authorized students.
  • Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Keeps record of all regular and special trips and submits monthly to the Transportation Manager.
  • Performs such other tasks as the Transportation Manager may assign from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Valid license to drive a bus
  • Pass a yearly physical and drug screen
  • Pass random drug testing
  • Such health requirements as the State and the Board may require
