Job description

This position provides safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school following a scheduled route and ensuring passenger safety. Employees must exercise skill and judgment in a safe, reliable and courteous manner while operating a school bus.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety.
  • Safely transports students following the planned route and schedule for departure time and stops.
  • Addresses student misconduct immediately to ensure the safety of all students while maintaining professionalism.
  • Reports delays, accidents, emergencies, and maintenance needs.
  • Regularly checks vehicle safety, such as tires, brakes, turn signals, mechanical equipment, etc. before and after each trip.
  • Enforces conduct and safety rules while on the bus.
  • Responds to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Assists with loading and unloading of the bus when required.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
