Special Education Teacher Assistant
Location: Ranch Heights Elementary School
An Associate Degree or 48 Hours of passing College Credit or have passed the Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET), ParaPro Test or WorkKeys Test. MUST PROVIDE OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION. Employee must be able to walk for 7 hours. Job requires occasional bending/stooping/squatting/crouching/kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder and pushing/pulling. Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds. Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation. Employee must possess hearing and speaking abilities to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents. The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.
CONTRACT: Days School in Session
WORKING HOURS: 7 hours daily
REPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher/Principal
EVALUATED BY: Principal
SUPERVISES: Students
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assists student with total physical basic life functions.
  2. Required to lift and position student during the day.
  3. Assists student with special feeding or tube feeding.
  4. Required to complete and file Medicaid forms.
  5. Supervises students outside of the classroom.
  6. May require lifting student in and out of wheelchair, occasional riding of the bus from school to home in absence of the regular bus assistant.
  7. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully-licensed teachers.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
