Job description

A Collision Repair Technician restores damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition. This role involves inspecting damage, realigning structural frames, replacing broken parts, and preparing surfaces for painting. The ideal candidate ensures all repairs meet safety and manufacturer standards.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Collision Repair Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for assessing vehicle damage, performing structural and cosmetic repairs, and ensuring every vehicle is repaired safely and returned to factory specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Damage Assessment:Review repair estimates, inspect vehicles for hidden structural damage, and plan repair procedures.
  • Structural Repair:Operate computerized frame-straightening equipment and heavy hydraulic jacks to restore chassis/unibody integrity.
  • Body Work:Remove damaged panels, weld replacement parts, pound out dents, and apply high-quality body fillers for a smooth finish.
  • Part Replacement:Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle parts (e.g., bumpers, radiators, lights, trim).
  • Surface Prep:Sand, buff, prime, and prep vehicle surfaces for paint application.
  • Quality Control:Perform safety checks, test drive repaired vehicles, and ensure quality standards are met before delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience:Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience in auto body or collision repair (or completion of a recognized vocational/trade school program).
  • Certifications:I-CAR certifications (or ability to achieve them) are highly preferred.
  • Mechanical Aptitude:Strong understanding of automotive systems, welding techniques (MIG/TIG), and the use of pneumatic/hydraulic tools.
  • Tools:Must possess own set of standard body shop hand tools.
  • Physical Requirements:Ability to frequently lift heavy objects (up to \(75\) lbs), stand for extended periods, and perform bending, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Must possess and maintain acceptable MVR insurability standards.
  • Must possess active driver's license.
  • Must pass applicable pre-employment background and drug screens.
