Position Summary

M3 Engineering & Technology is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer specializing in Material Handling to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. This position is responsible for the design, specification, and procurement of mechanical equipment and bulk material handling systems for industrial facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with process, structural, civil, electrical, and piping engineers to develop safe, reliable, and cost-effective material handling systems from conceptual design through construction support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop bulk material handling systems for industrial facilities.
  • Perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing for:
    • Belt, screw, drag, and bucket conveyors
    • Crushers, grinding mills, feeders, and screens
    • Chutes, hoppers, bins, silos, and storage systems
    • Transfer stations and material handling equipment
    • Dust collection systems
  • Prepare equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings.
  • Develop equipment specifications and assist with equipment selection and procurement.
  • Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain equipment lists and mechanical design documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment interfaces with piping, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Serve as Project Manager on small engineering projects, coordinating scope, schedule, budget, client communication, and project deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing industrial material handling systems.
  • Experience with bulk material handling equipment and layouts.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D design software such as Inventor, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment selection, specifications, and procurement.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a discipline lead on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage small engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and client communications.
  • Experience with bulk solids flow, conveyor systems, crushing, grinding, and storage systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
