Studio Built Cost Accountant

Position: Full Time

Reports to: Manufacturing Controller

Work Location: Cuero, TX

Position Overview:

The role of the cost accountant supports the accounting department of Studio Built and works in an office setting collecting and analyzing data to assess the time, money, materials, and labor required to make a product or provide a service. The accountant must be proficient in cost accounting and will perform processing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions including inter-departmental and intercompany transaction reconciliation. The accountant will map out all the human and material resources needed for building modular projects and use these predictions to determine the projected cost of each project while maintaining established profit margins.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining and reviewing cost accounting records for the Studio Built factory, this includes establishing and reviewing standard costs and price, labor, and overhead variances
  • Heavy data entry
  • Prepares estimates of cost of materials, labor, equipment, subcontracts for modular projects based on schematic drawings and project specifications
  • Collects all pertinent project documents including plans, technical drawings, and project specifications.
  • Receives RFQ from sales or engineering department; gathers any additional documentation and information relative to the project i.e., drawings, nonstandard items, and/or technical information.
  • Compares material list from RFQ to the project drawing; resolves discrepancies by consulting with appropriate personnel from sales, supply chain, and or engineering departments for technical support.
  • Works with supply chain for pricing on nonstandard items.
  • Calculates costs and creates estimate by entering data into Moducore.
  • Accounts for the use of our resources, plus a reasonable profit margin to calculate an overarching price.
  • Produces a complete project estimate package and submits for approval.
  • Creates and processes sales orders and change orders.

Qualifications & Skills:

REQUIRED:

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in accounting strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant work in cost estimating relative to the construction/manufacturing industry necessary
  • 2-4 years of experience in modular building and construction strongly preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office; quoting system and CRM experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and move between multiple computer applications quickly is essential
  • Must be organized and have a high regard for attention to detail
  • Dependable, conscientious, and well-spoken
  • Job requires extreme accuracy in data entry and the review of supporting documentation
  • Must be proficient in math
