Support the Restaurant Equipment & Engineering team by assisting the evaluation and implementation of building systems (HVAC, electrical panels, exhaust hoods, building controls, etc.), kitchen equipment, & continuous improvements into Wendy’s new and existing restaurants. Supports proactive equipment improvements that positively impact the restaurant environment to improve customer & employee experiences across the U.S. System of restaurants.

Supports cross-functional teams in the development, communication, monitoring, and execution of plans for successful implementation of equipment, systems, tools, processes and procedures into the restaurants. Drives proactive improvements in employee and customer experiences that positively impact restaurant margins through an innovative mindset.

This role reports directly to the Director of Restaurant Equipment & Engineering in Restaurant Operations Services. 


Develops and maintains quality deliverables, including building system specifications (functional requirements) for different building types & regions, installation instructions, operator-friendly training materials, business cases, equipment approvals, and internal and external communications.

Supports multiple projects through all phases, starting with discover/concept, and all the way through implementation/evaluation. Supports cross-functional team members to ensure successful testing, implementation and integration of equipment & processes into the system.

Administration of the Equipment Portal content including acquisition of documents from equipment vendors, development of equipment lists, assurance of format consistency, assignment of Item No’s, and creation of packages.

Provides ongoing support to the equipment vendors & distributors, construction teams, franchise community, field leadership and operations on inquiries and opportunities for existing or new equipment opportunities or processes.

Completes all calendar management activities and executes all required weekly/monthly communication. Provides timely and appropriate updates to departmental leadership regarding project tasks, issues, milestones, and overall timing.

Expected Work Location (In Office): It is expected that you will primarily perform work at the Wendy's Restaurant Support Center (RSC) (1 Dave Thomas Blvd, Dublin, OH 43017), or at other location(s) as designated by the Company. You are required to work in the office at least 4 days a week. Changes to work location arrangements are subject to managerial approval and business needs. #LI-Onsite 

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a design/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong business acumen, business maturity, organizing, planning, influence, visioning, constructive conflict skills.
  • Previous experience in the food service or related industry.
  • Strong project management skills. 1-3 years of experience managing long duration, multi-functional engineering related projects.
  • Successfully ideated, designed, tested, validated, & implemented at least one product or solution across a multi-faceted organization.
  • Natural capacity to quickly establish and build effective relationships across the organization.
  • Established influencing, consulting, and communication skills; has the ability to influence, engage, and motivate people.
  • Proficient in the use of a variety of software applications including CAD programs, MS Project, Excel.

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position. The target annual bonus for this role is 7.5% of annualized base salary, based on actual company and personal performance.
