Electrical Engineer, PE Preferred (Power & Building Systems)

If so, Genesis AEC is seeking a mid-to-senior level Electrical Engineer with 7-10+ years of experience to lead facility electrical system design and coordinate across disciplines on complex building and infrastructure projects.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Lead electrical design for low- and medium-voltage systems (480V-35kV), including power distribution, standby/emergency systems, and critical infrastructure.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record or discipline lead on projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and technical excellence.
  • Perform and oversee advanced electrical studies, including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Drive design coordination across architecture, mechanical, process, and client stakeholders.
  • Guide junior engineers and designers; review and mentor deliverables.
  • Interface directly with clients to define scope, resolve challenges, and present solutions.
  • Support construction administration: RFIs, submittals, site visits, and commissioning support.
  • Contribute to standards development, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

YOU MAY BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) from an accredited institution
  • 7-10+ years of relevant experience in building systems, electrical design
  • Strong experience with power distribution systems, standby power, and critical systems
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and power analysis tools (e.g., SKM, ETAP)
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects or major workstreams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with clients and cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred, or actively pursuing licensure
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences facilities
  • Experience with mission-critical or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and applicable industry standards
