Steiner Studios is an award-winning, state-of-the-art film and television production facility at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Steiner Studios is one of the largest studios east of Los Angeles and at full buildout will be over 1.6 million square feet on 60 acres.
Job Description:
The Assistant Building Systems Technician will assist the Building Systems Engineer in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of various building and site systems.  
Essential Functions:
  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting of system issues, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including filter changes, sensor calibration, equipment inspections, belt adjustments, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of HVAC, electrical, and other systems under the guidance of the Building Systems Engineer.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs on equipment as necessary.
  • Follow established procedures and safety protocols while performing various installations and repairs.
  • Complete work orders, service reports, and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at job sites and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Assist with conducting inspections and assessments of various systems to identify areas for improvement or upgrades.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to our clients and property tenants.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant coursework preferred.
  • Basic understanding of building systems and controls.
  • 2+ years of experience working in commercial buildings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and work orders required to perform maintenance and service.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
