Job Summary

Provides exceptional guest service while maintaining a safe and secure environment at the Convention Center and adhering to guidelines set forth by management.

Duties and Responsibilities

PATROL, SECURE AND PROVIDE SAFETY: Assist in managing overall building safety at all times (before, after and/or during events).

  • Patrol all assigned locations of the building, parking lot, grounds and perimeters of the venue.

  • Protect all building and property from damage, theft and vandalism.

  • Secure building/conduct lockdown by locking/closing doors of lobby, meeting rooms, gates etc.

  • Prepare parking lot for event parking

  • Create, complete and maintain various reports and/or logs of inspections, incidences, lost and found, repair activity and/or findings etc., following department protocol with regard to accurately reporting incidences so that there is clear record and documentation.

CASH HANDLING/PARKING LOT: Performs cashiering functions so as to collect parking revenue from patrons:

  • Collect parking fees and tickets from patrons parking in the Hawai'i Convention Center parking lot(s). Collections of these fees may be done in various places throughout the convention center. Give correct change to patrons when required.

  • Print parking receipts and give to patrons as requested.

  • Responsible for cash banks which includes receiving the cash bank, returning it to supervisor, ensuring the money inside is correct and having knowledge of the balance and the banks whereabouts at all times.

  • Prepare money deposit by reconciling collected parking tickets and monies to ensure there is a balance and money collected is accurate. Receive approval for deposit from supervisor.

  • Ensure proper level of supplies, such as parking tickets, receipts, credit card rolls, printer ribbon etc. or other necessary items are kept at all times.

EMERGENCY EVACUATIONS AND CRISIS SCENARIOS: Assist in Emergency Evacuation and Crisis Scenario situations, practices and drills.

  • Ensure smooth training of participants in preparation of true evacuations and/or crises. Successfully participate in drills to test knowledge and practicality of evacuation/emergency procedures, conduct inspections of areas and report to security base the status of the emergency situation. Apply same practice in true scenarios.

  • Conduct periodic inspections of fire extinguishers, safety equipment and supplies.

  • May administer CPR/First Aid as needed during emergency and/or crisis situations.

  • Investigate all incidents as assigned.

  • Barricade sections of building according to need

  • Shut down lights according to need

  • Patrol and inspect building including parking lot: be aware of current building safety and safety standards, equipment status, parking lots gate arms, overall pay station, needed repairs, cleanliness and parking situations

  • Create, complete and maintain reports and/or logs of inspections, repair activity and findings.

  • Ensure parking lot is set to proper level and parking configuration based on anticipated activity and safety requirements.

  • Investigate suspicious persons and be alert for vandalism and property damage.

  • May make corrections to unsafe conditions under the direction of management.

  • Identify and report all unsafe conditions to supervisor/ management immediately.

  • Acts as a greeter for incoming event attendees, in garage, lobby, porte-cochere, or other locations, providing an "Aloha welcome" with a smile and offering assistance and information.

  • Direct traffic/perform traffic control (vehicle and/or pedestrian) to maintain successful traffic operations at all times and provide exceptional customer service to the patrons of the Hawai'i Convention Center. This task may be performed in various areas of the convention center as needed

SECURITY BASE MANAGEMENT:

  • Answer various internal/external inquiries via phone, email or in person.

  • Monitor security cameras for suspicious person(s) and/or activity and report to supervisor/management accordingly. Be aware of current building safety and safety standards, equipment status, parking lots gate arms, overall pay station, needed repairs, cleanliness and parking situations

  • Manage signing visitors in/out of building and dispensing equipment, keys, passes etc. as required. Record activity in company logs as required.

  • Communicate and monitor radio transmission and ensure information is delivered correctly to necessary person(s).

Rate of Pay - $22 per hour
