Building Security Officer | Part-Time | PeoplesBank Arena

Oak View Group (OVG) is the global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, with a platform spanning venue development and end-to-end capabilities across venue management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. Founded in 2015, the company serves a collection of seven world-class owned venues and a client roster of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions, spanning four continents.

The Building Security Officer position is under the direct supervision of the Guest Services & Security Manager. The officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure atmosphere at PeoplesBank Arena as well as other duties as assigned.

This role pays an hourly rate of $25.07.

PeoplesBank Arena is Connecticut's premier destination for sports & entertainment. The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses. PeoplesBank Arena is also home to the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.

PeoplesBank Arena entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others. PeoplesBank Arena will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the daily activities of the building and enforce facility rules, policies, and procedures and report incidents as they occur to the Guest Services & Security Manager.
  • Make immediate decisions and communicate with building/event security staff as well as management in the cases of emergency situations and works cooperatively with all local authorities (police, fire, EMT, etc.)
  • Monitor all building security activities for events at PeoplesBank Arena to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction in all pertinent areas of event experience.
  • Monitor all CCTV cameras and operational systems on a continuous 24/7 basis on both event and non-event days and report any suspicious activity to management or the proper authorities.
  • Complete and log all building patrols to assigned facility locations to lock and unlock doors, etc., as required and perform safety building checks as needed.
  • Follow established procedures regarding systems and equipment monitored by security and the activities of the command center and document and report any damage or safety hazards to management.
  • Responsible for gathering & interpreting information to accurately complete required reporting procedures in a timely manner.
  • Log and inspect all incoming packages and contact the correct recipients of arrival. Report any suspicious packages to the manager or the proper authorities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned as well as provide good customer service.
Qualifications
  • Valid CT State Guard Card.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of effective security in an arena setting.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function independently as well as part of a team and make decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while remaining calm and flexible in times of stress.
  • Prior experience in the law enforcement, military, and/or customer service field is highly desired.
  • Required to maintain good judgement and confidentiality in certain matters.
  • Knowledge and skill in effective camera surveillance and radio communication.
