Job Title: Estimator
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Mobile, AL
Job Summary:
Our client, a local GC, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in estimating software, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans, specifications, and other documentation
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff
  • Develop and maintain accurate pricing databases and cost benchmarks
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
  • Create and manage bid proposals, including scope clarification and leveling
  • Interpret and apply bid requirements across all project stages, including hard bid, conceptual, schematic, and design development phases
  • Identify and account for all project requirements during the estimating process, including bidding logistics, insurance, staging, and phasing considerations
  • Develop detailed scope sheets and thoroughly review subcontractor proposals for completeness and alignment with project requirements
  • Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy
  • Track and analyze historical cost data to improve future estimates
  • Assist in project handoff to operations team upon award
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Engineering, or related field
