Position Description
Stewart/Perry is a company focused on building relationships as well as exceptional projects. Headquartered on a 16-acre campus in Birmingham, Alabama, we specialize in commercial and retail construction across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Since 1984, we have delivered high-quality work in 23 states. While retail construction remains a cornerstone of our business, we have steadily expanded into other sectors.
This internship provides experience in estimating, project management, and field operations. Interns work alongside Estimators, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Engineers on active bids and projects.
Our internship program is designed to grow with you. First-time interns build a broad foundation, while returning interns take on greater project management responsibility, independence, and ownership.
What You'll Do:
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other project documents.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, bid lists, subcontractor outreach, bid solicitation, and other estimating activities.
  • Support project teams with RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, project directories, logs, document control, and follow-up items.
  • Help maintain accurate, organized, and current project information in company files and project management software.
  • Attend project and coordination meetings, observe how decisions are made, and assist with assigned action items.
  • Visit active jobsites to connect drawings and office responsibilities with sequencing, logistics, quality, safety, and field execution.
  • Assist with project startup, procurement tracking, change documentation, punch lists, closeout, and other project needs as opportunities arise.
  • Communicate professionally with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, architects, and owners under the direction of the project team.
  • Take ownership of defined assignments or recurring tasks and follow them through to completion.
  • Prepare and present a brief summary of the internship experience and key takeaways to company leadership.
