The Role:

The Engineering Department's employees are the keepers of maintaining the mechanical systems for the hotel. You are responsible for repairing and maintaining the hotel's physical structure in accordance with Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge's standards for quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and of course acknowledging guests with a smile and an "I can make it happen attitude".

Job Duties:

  • Ensure all machinery and mechanical equipment operate at optimal efficiency by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions and replacements.
  • Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work.
  • Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions
  • Comfortable working at heights and on ladders.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Boiler and heating systems, including guest rooms, public spaces, and back of the house areas for needed preventative maintenance.
  • Repairs to carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting.
  • You are responsible for records and reports of completed repairs and items that need further attention. 
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  •  Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  •  Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by your Leaders.

Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

You will be considered for this role if you have all the following experience: 

  • A Class 4 Power Engineering Certificate would be considered and asset.
  • 2 years minimal experience and knowledge in one or more of the Building Trades
  • Knowledge of Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for an extended period of time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the property, including guest areas, mechanical rooms, outdoor areas, and service corridors.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, or step stools to access equipment, fixtures, or storage areas.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry items up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, including overhead reaching.
