Job description

Dream is looking for a Junior Building Operator!

Dream is always looking for the best and brightest to join its thriving community. Dream is currently looking for a Junior Building Operator who is ready to work hard and understands the importance of excellent customer service.

Who are you?

Being at Dream certainly keeps busy, and that’s true for our teams on the ground and in our offices. We are looking for someone who can run our buildings and make our tenants feel like stars. Sound like something you can and want to do? If you’re also a team player, an honest person, and have a strong work ethic, read on. We want to hear from you.

Over your 1+ years of experience in building maintenance, you’ve learned to treat buildings with care and their tenants with even greater dedication. You always look for the best way to do things and aren’t afraid to think outside the box to find the best answer. You address every request with a smile and in a timely manner, no matter how big or small, and you also know how to prioritize your multiple tasks.

We want you on board because you can work independently but are a team player, and your team and tenants trust you. That stems from you really liking people, which shows in how you interact with others and the ease with which you communicate.

We care about bringing on someone who is eager to learn, work hard, and have fun. In other words, we want you to fit in here. This is an opportunity for you to take on responsibilities and make your tenants feel at home, while working in an environment that is fast-paced, dynamic and fun. Are you ready?

What will you do?

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and life safety systems and facilities;
  • Complete tenant service calls such as changing lights, heating/cooling calls etc. in a professional manner;
  • Oversee the appearance and safety of the property;
  • Operate Building Automation, Life safety, Company procurement programs and Security computer systems;
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions/recommendations;
  • Oversee contractors and ensure they abide by building guidelines;
  • Communicate with Operations Supervisor/Property Management on building and tenant issues;
  • Maintain maintenance and daily logs of equipment;
  • Contact suppliers, obtain quotes, order materials/supplies; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

There are also some physical requirements associated with this job. Here are some of the fun things we’ll need you to confirm you can do:

  • Able to work in confined spaces;
  • Bending, twisting, crouching, climbing and reaching;
  • Move and lift heavy equipment and supplies; and
  • A combination of walking, standing, and sitting. There won’t be too much sitting at all, so don’t worry about getting restless.

What type of experience and skills do you have?
These are only some of the things we’d like you to bring to the table. We can cover the rest when we meet.

  • Valid driver’s license;
  • 1+ years of experience in Building Operations;
  • You’ve gained your experience in a commercial/office/retail environment;
  • You are enrolled or have completed your Operator Class 5 Certificate;
  • You are familiar with safety and fire codes and WHMIS procedures;
  • You are proactive in finding problems and solving them;
  • You are a team player but can work on your own; and
  • Your computer and communications skills are above par.
