Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Position Overview:

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement process. This individual will ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment, while maintaining optimal inventory levels and fostering strong relationships with vendors. The Purchasing Manager will collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and contribute to achieving company goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Management:
  • Lead the purchasing department and manage the procurement of building materials and supplies in alignment with company needs.
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies to maintain competitive pricing and minimize costs while ensuring product quality.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms, prices, and delivery schedules.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels to meet customer demands without overstocking or stockouts.
  • Monitor stock levels, usage rates, and supplier performance to forecast future purchasing needs.
  • Vendor Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure product availability and favorable terms.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations to ensure adherence to quality standards, delivery timelines, and service levels.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting:
  • Monitor purchasing expenses and work within budgetary constraints while maximizing the value of every purchase.
  • Provide regular reports on purchasing performance, including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory management.
  • Team Leadership & Training:
  • Supervise and guide the purchasing team, ensuring efficient and effective procurement processes.
  • Conduct regular training and performance reviews to enhance team skills and productivity.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
  • Work closely with the Sales, Operations, and Warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of materials and minimize project delays.
  • Collaborate with the Finance department to ensure accurate invoicing and payment processes.


Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement management, preferably in the building materials or construction industry.
  • Experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and cost control practices.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
