Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports the day-to-day maintenance, repair, safety, and overall care of Twin Farms' buildings, equipment, grounds, and guest-facing spaces. This role is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting facility issues, completing repairs, assisting with renovations and light construction, and helping ensure the property remains safe, functional, and beautifully maintained for guests and team members.

This position requires strong technical ability, sound judgment, flexibility, and a service-minded approach. The Maintenance Technician should be comfortable working independently, responding to changing operational needs, and maintaining a professional and discreet presence in a luxury hospitality environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, equipment, guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and property systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair maintenance issues related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, small appliances, and general building systems.
  • Complete light-duty construction, renovation, repair, and installation projects as assigned.
  • Inspect buildings, mechanical systems, equipment, and property areas to identify repair needs, safety concerns, or preventive maintenance opportunities.
  • Accurately read, interpret, sketch, and update water, gas, electric, plumbing, building, and property as-built drawings as needed.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within the scope of experience, training, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform basic soldering and plumbing repairs.
  • Run tests, document findings, complete reports, and follow technical procedures and manufacturer specifications.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely, professional, and guest-sensitive manner.
  • Prioritize work orders while remaining flexible to urgent guest, operational, or safety-related needs.
  • Work with contracted tradespeople, vendors, and service providers to support repairs, inspections, projects, and preventive maintenance.
  • Assist in monitoring supplies, tools, materials, and equipment needed for maintenance operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of tools, equipment, PPE, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain familiarity with OSHA general industry safety expectations, including confined space awareness.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, team members, vendors, contractors, and other departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including maintenance shops, vehicles, and storage areas.
  • Support snow removal, seasonal property needs, event support, and emergency maintenance response as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working in guest rooms, private areas, and staff spaces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of materials, practices, tools, and safe work methods used in preventive and corrective maintenance of buildings and equipment.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, painting, electrical, plumbing, general repair, renovation, and light construction.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and theories.
  • Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read and update water, gas, electric, plumbing, building, and property as-builts.
  • Basic soldering skills.
  • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and complete a broad range of maintenance tasks with competing priorities.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex maintenance problems independently or in partnership with contracted tradespeople.
  • Ability to run tests, document results, complete reports, and follow technical procedures.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the flexibility to adjust quickly to operational needs.
  • Familiarity with OSHA general industry safety practices; confined space awareness preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide and obtain clear information.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with contractors, vendors, managers, team members, and guests.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented approach.
  • Professional, positive, proactive, and discreet demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent Twin Farms with professionalism.

Required Education, Experience, and Training

  • High school diploma, equivalent, or vocational/technical degree required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Minimum of three years of general maintenance experience in building, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or small appliance repair preferred.
  • General maintenance experience in a hotel, resort, luxury property, or hospitality environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal codes preferred.
  • OSHA General Industry certification preferred.
  • Water or wastewater operation training/certification a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work with hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment, tools, and materials as needed.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in mechanical spaces, utility areas, and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to urgent maintenance needs and changing operational demands.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and company vehicles.

Work Environment

This position works throughout the Twin Farms property, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, mechanical areas, outdoor areas, and maintenance facilities. The role may require interaction with guests and must be performed with professionalism, discretion, and attention to the standards of a luxury hospitality environment.

Schedule

Schedule may vary based on business needs, seasonal demands, emergencies, and property coverage requirements. Weekends, holidays, evenings, on-call support, and weather-related response may be required.
