Job description

We are currently seeking a General Building Maintenance to join our team! You will be responsible for completing work orders and other required tasks.

Each candidate shall be required to acquire and wear steel toed shoes/boots during working hours. The employee will be reimbursed one time, up to $100 for the purchase of new steel-toed shoes.

The Maintenance/General Building Technician reporting to the Area Supervisor, is responsible for maintenance of all self-storage properties within the assigned Region. This includes general repairs, clean up, supporting clients/site staff as required, and ensuring the efficiency of the retail division of the company. Goals and purposes include prioritizing work, completing repairs efficiently, and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and co-workers

General repairs and clean up may include: roll-up door repairs, latch repairs, caulking, weatherproofing, minor roof repairs, basic concrete work, basic metal work, basic fence/gate repair, lighting, basic electrical troubleshooting, basic carpentry, landscaping, snow removal, grading, garbage disposal, and general renovation/restoration. Front line support for property-related tasks, as directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete work and repair orders in a timely fashion
  • Estimate time and extent of repairs
  • Operate a truck with a snowplow and salter
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance
  • Maintain material and supply inventory
  • Oversee work performed by outside contractors as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in maintenance or other related fields
  • Familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment
  • Must have snow removal experience
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Valid driver’s license and daily access and use of a reliable vehicle. Travel between locations will be required
  • Willingness to learn/be trained
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role
  • Skid steer experience is an asset
  • Ability to work independently, and with a team
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, repairs, maintenance requirements
  • A valid Provincial Driver’s License
  • Driver’s abstract (done by employer)
  • Background check (done by employer)
  • Physical requirements: ability to lift 50 lbs, work in various positions and stand/kneel/squat/bend for extended periods. Comfortable working outdoors.
