Job description

Position Summary


The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all facility and equipment maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can work independently with minimal supervision while effectively supervising and developing maintenance personnel. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge of facility systems, maintenance best practices, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives for a large scale and highly automated packaging & distribution operation.


The Maintenance Manager will foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence while ensuring the facility, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise maintenance technicians and other maintenance personnel.
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Design, implement, and manage technical training programs to develop the skills and competencies of engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Evaluate workforce capabilities and identify development opportunities to maintain a highly skilled maintenance organization.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and ensure accountability across the maintenance team.


Maintenance & Facility Operations

  • Demonstrate mastery and proficiency in facility operations, building systems, and equipment maintenance.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Ensure facility infrastructure, utilities, material handling systems, and production support equipment operate at optimal performance levels.
  • Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Manage maintenance schedules, work orders, contractor activities, and maintenance budgets.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and maintenance standards.
  • Read, understand, and assume responsibility for the execution of all procedures, assignments, notices, and policies applicable to assigned areas and common areas, including posted notices.
  • Conduct safety inspections and identify opportunities to improve workplace safety and asset reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and regulatory documentation.


Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and implement initiatives that improve equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Operations, Safety, Quality, and other departments to support business objectives.
  • Utilize data and maintenance metrics to drive performance improvements and strategic decision-making.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently with little supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of facility systems, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, HVAC, controls, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.


Preferred

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems and industrial controls.
  • Experience managing capital improvement projects and vendor relationships.
