Client: Tennessee School for the Blind (TSB)
Duration: 08/17/2026 - 11/20/2026
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Position Summary
The Tennessee School for the Blind is seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Worker III to perform general building maintenance, preventive maintenance, and facility repairs across its 87-acre campus. The ideal candidate will have experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, grounds maintenance, and general building repairs while ensuring a safe and functional learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, equipment, and campus facilities.
  • Complete carpentry, drywall, painting, roofing, flooring, and minor construction repairs.
  • Perform plumbing and basic electrical repairs, including replacing fixtures, switches, outlets, and lighting components.
  • Conduct minor HVAC maintenance, including changing filters, belts, and motors.
  • Maintain school grounds, landscaping, sidewalks, fences, and outdoor equipment.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, state vehicles, and maintenance equipment.
  • Complete work orders, inspections, inventory management, and maintenance documentation.
  • Assist with room setups, furniture moves, and emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and school policies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of experience in building or facilities maintenance.
  • Experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and grounds maintenance.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass TBI/FBI fingerprinting and background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EPA Universal HVAC Certification.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Certification.
  • Electrical or Plumbing License.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift 50-80 lbs.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
