Description Serve as Building Maintenance Technician, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position assists with routine repairs, preventative maintenance, custodial duties, and general facility operations to ensure a safe, clean, and functioning environment. Summary of Duties MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: This is not an attempt to list all work operations of this job position.
Duties generally include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Performs light building maintenance and minor repairs, including carpentry, patching and painting walls, replacing ceiling tiles and lightbulbs, unclogging drains, assembling and repairing furniture and other similar duties. 2.
Monitors general condition of buildings, facilities and equipment and notifies Supervisor of items needing repair or replacement. 3. Support preventative maintenance programs and inspections.
4. Assist with grounds maintenance, including snow removal, ice reduction, shoveling and salting at City facilities. 5.
Set up and tear down rooms for meetings, events and activities. 6. Monitor facilities for safety hazards and report maintenance issues.
7. Assist with moving furniture, equipment and materials. 8.
Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment. 9. Assist with Election equipment deliveries and election polling place set up and tear down.
10. Assist with custodial duties such as cleaning, trash removal, and restocking supplies. POSITION EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 1.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance practices and tools. 2. Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment.
3. Follow all safety procedures and regulations. 4.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. 5. Displays ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and displays attention to detail.
6. Creates a favorable image of the City in contacts with the Public, Elected Officials and other Organizations. 7.
Must exercise initiative, discretion and independent use of judgment over matters of low significance. 8. Keeps Facilities Maintenance Coordinator or designee informed of any development, which he/she will need to know to function effectively.
9.Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent and/or as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator or designee. RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: None. Qualifications/Prerequisites EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITE(S): 1
High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. One (1) year employment experience in facilities maintenance, custodial work, or related field.
OTHER PREREQUISITES: 1. Specific Qualifier/Test(s): Pre-employment drug screen prior to starting employment. Able to meet standard background and criminal check.
Valid and unrestricted Driver's License and satisfactory driving record. Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor: Lifting up to 50 lbs with or without special accommodations, and Bending and standing for long periods. 2.
Job Performance and Attendance Record in Current/Most recent job: Met standard performance rating. Met standard attendance record. DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL FACTORS TO BE CONSIDERED 1.
Employment experience with a School District, Municipality, County or State in a similar position. 2. Experience in locksmithing, key cutting, core replacements and lock repair.
3. Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.
