Responsibilities

ECS is offering an exciting opportunity for a Building Enclosure Department Manager to join our Florida Building Science + Infrastructure team in Miami, FL. In this role, you’ll lead projects involving inspections, testing, assessments, and commissioning of building envelopes for existing structures. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality consulting solutions to a diverse range of facilities and clients. If you have a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and the drive to grow a department, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Practice Growth

  • Lead and grow a department focused on Building Enclosure services
  • Drive strategic business development initiatives and expand ECS’s presence within the local market
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with REITs, developers, property managers, insurance companies, banks, contractors, and design professionals
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of engineers, architects, inspectors, and technical staff
  • Manage departmental operations, staffing, utilization, and financial performance, including P&L responsibility

Technical & Project Oversight

  • Oversee projects involving:
      • Building envelope and enclosure evaluations
      • Roof and waterproofing assessments
      • Moisture and water intrusion investigations
      • Property condition assessments (PCA)
      • Forensic investigations and failure analysis
      • Structural evaluations and related design work
      • Code compliance inspections and plan review services
    • Review technical reports, proposals, scopes, and deliverables to ensure quality and consistency
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams and clients
    • Support project management efforts including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), or a related field
  • 8+ years of related experience with building enclosure consulting, including field investigations, testing, commissioning (BECx), design review, or forensic assessments
  • Licensed or certified in at least one of the following preferred but not required:
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.)
    • Registered Architect (R.A.)
    • IIBEC certifications (RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC, CBECxP)
    • University of Wisconsin–Madison certifications (BECxP, CxA+BE)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds multiple times per day, stand for extended periods, walk on uneven terrain, and perform work at heights.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required if driving for or on behalf of an ECS subsidiary.
