Job Description:

There is an exciting opportunity for a Building Operator to join our Commercial Property Management Team. The Building Operator is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and smooth operation. In this role you will work with Property Managers to ensure that a high level of service and appearance is provided to all buildings and properties. This role is based in Burnaby, BC.

What You Will Do:

  • Work in conjunction with the Property Management Department, Contractors and other staff to ensure buildings, suites and common areas are maintained in a "A" Class condition

  • Responsible for day to day operations of the facility to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building HVAC (cooling towers, boilers, chillers, pumps, controls- DDC) and all building sub-systems (building life safety equipment, fire suppression system, power generators, sump pumps)

  • Assist with supervision with tenant improvement projects

  • Assist with supervision on capital expenditure projects

  • Perform Tenant Walkthrough Inspections with tenants prior to handover

  • Ensure all Tenant Walkthrough deficiencies are completed & signed off

  • Must complete Quality Control Checklists and document all concerns with photos and submit to Property Manager for review/action

  • Review and complete service requests items submitted by Tenants

  • Coordinate trades to complete additional work which may be required

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management team

What You Will Bring:

  • Must have previous experience working with building systems (boiler, chiller, DDC, F/LS, controls, pumps, etc.) in a commercial building setting. 4thClass or 5thClass Power Engineer/Operator certification preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience with commercial/retail/office/industrial complex building systems

  • Demonstrated experience with automation systems and troubleshooting mechanical systems

  • Willing to work overtime in the event of emergency/available for on-call duty

  • Must have a class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle

  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary Range:

$52,500to$73,000
