Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Kingman is seeking a leader for the position of Environmental Manager. The successful candidate will not only bring continued focus on obtaining world-class safety performance but will bring further motivation to a highly performing team of operators. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively throughtout the division leadership team to inspire the entire operation. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must always demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4 years of leadership experience.
  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Environmental or other related science, or equivalent work experience in a technical-related field.
Detailed Selection Criteria:

Developing and Building Teams - Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members as well as effectively managing and resolving conflict as needed.

Leadership Presence and Courage - Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.

Communication Skills - The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.

Problem Solving & Judgment/Decision Making - Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to choose the most appropriate solution.

Coaching and Developing Others -Identifying the strengths and developmental needs of others to include coaching, mentoring, teaching, training, or otherwise helping others to improve their skills to work effectively.

Developing and Building Teams- Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members as well as effectively managing and resolving conflicts as needed.

Business Acumen- General business knowledge and an understanding of how Nucor makes money.

Administration and Management- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership technique, production methods, recruiting, and coordination of people and resources.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior Steel industry experience.
  • Experience in environmental Permitting for all media (air, water, waste), environmental law, radiation safety, ISO 14001 programs, ISO 9001 Quality program, environmental auditing, environmental operations (water systems, pollution control devices, waste management).
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and/or Material Sciences/Mettallurgy
  • Experience with structured Safety programs and/or OSHA regulations and reguirements.
