We're hiring a Building Design Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO and we're looking for someone who's ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.
We're expanding our team at EquipmentShare! We're currently searching for a Building Design Engineer (M/E/P Generalist) to help us manage nationwide building expansion efforts and support the Architecture team on corporate projects. Preference will be given to candidates in Kansas City, Columbia, MO (HQ), St. Louis, MO, and surrounding areas. While the position is primarily remote, intermittent travel to our corporate office in Columbia, MO will be required.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure Corporate & Branch facilities uphold the EquipmentShare design and engineering standards
  • Execute multiple projects under various deadlines
  • Aid the Architecture team in ensuring building environments are aesthetically pleasing, functional, comfortable, and safe - knowledge of M/E/P building codes is required
  • Participate in occasional site visits to:
    • Analyze existing building systems
    • Ensure construction compliance with documents and specifications
  • Read, interpret, and explain complex technical documents to peers and leaders
  • Utilize Revit to create M/E/P designs and construction details, equipment schedules, one line diagrams and schematics
  • Coordinate with in-house wash bay specialist
  • Work with outside consultants in the form of client representation or liaison role
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends, materials, systems, and other developments in building engineering - demonstrate a passion for continuous learning
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural). Degree from ABET accredited program is required. Masters degree, preferred
  • At least 6 years experience
  • Able to work with a high degree of independence and be able to take the lead on initiatives with limited supervision is a must
  • Project experience spanning commercial, industrial (PEMB) is required. Residential sector is preferred as well
  • Broad experience across building M/E/P design. If specialization in Electrical design experience exists, please note in your application or resume
  • Experience with new construction and renovation projects
  • Ability to apply, adapt, and manage execution of M/E/P standards
  • Demonstrated project management skills for multiple concurrent projects
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Proficiency in the following software:
    • Revit, AutoCAD
    • Bluebeam
    • Google Apps and/or Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural). Degree from ABET accredited program is required. Masters degree, preferred
  • At least 6 years professional experience in the a related field or industry.
  • Project experience spanning commercial, induistrial (PEMB) is required. Residential sector is preferred as well
  • PE required
  • Experience with new construction and renovation projects
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion
