Job description

The Opportunity:

Glumac, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a new Director of Energy to help support, guide, and expand our talented Energy Group into the future. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a collaborative, visionary-minded professional who is energized by growth, innovation, and the chance to influence sustainable design on a national scale. You'll lead an existing team, deepen client partnerships, and drive strategic energy and decarbonization work that advances both business goals and environmental impact.

Position Summary:

As Director of Energy, you will provide leadership across a range of building energy consulting services, including life cycle cost analysis; net zero ready consulting; new construction modeling for code compliance and green building certification; building audits; and electrification and decarbonization while leading and helping grow a team of diverse professionals. This role balances strategy, team leadership, technical oversight, and business development, with a strong focus on growth, client relationships, and industry presence. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of leading people, expanding service lines and clients, energizing the group, setting group strategic goals, and integrating with the other disciplines in the Building Engineering Services (BSG) and Engineering Services (ESG) Groups.
 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and mentor the Energy Team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Explore new markets and services and develop an industry leading Energy group.
  • Drive business development efforts, sales strategy, and client relationship management.
  • Oversee project performance, quality control, and delivery excellence across group work.
  • Support pursuits across a wide range of building types.
  • Setting group strategic goals and priorities.
  • Represent Glumac in the market through conferences, stakeholder engagement, and industry outreach.
  • Partner with leadership to advance innovation, set vision, and support strategic planning.
  • Contribute to proposal development, hiring, and team development initiatives.  

Required Qualifications: 

  • 15+ years of experience in energy consulting, energy modeling, and decarbonization.

  • Proven success in business development and sales.
  • Demonstrated experience managing people, projects, and sales targets.

  • Strong experience with energy modeling tools such as IESVE or EnergyPlus.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Experience working across a broad range of building types.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Leadership experience in an energy services or mechanical engineering consulting environment.
  • Experience supervising teams and providing technical QA/QC and mentorship.
  • Strong California market knowledge and industry presence.
  • Track record of driving repeat business and long-term client partnerships.
  • Experience representing a firm externally through presentations, conferences, or stakeholder meetings.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.  

Work Environment and Location:

This position offers a hybrid work environment, with a requirement of two in-office days per week in one of our California offices. 

Compensation: 

The salary range for this position is $185,000 - $240,00 (depending on experience). 

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the compensation scale for this role. Actual salaries will be determined based on location, experience, responsibilities, and qualifications. This salary range is just one component of Glumac's total compensation package, which includes benefits, professional development opportunities, and additional incentives.
