JOB SUMMARY

The HVAC Technician / Engineering is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all building systems throughout the resort property. This position performs advanced troubleshooting, executes preventive maintenance programs, and supports engineering and maintenance operations to ensure exceptional property standards and guest satisfaction.

This role supports all areas of the resort including guest rooms, public areas, mechanical spaces, food and beverage outlets, pools, grounds, and back-of-house facilities. The Engineer ensures compliance with safety regulations, brand standards, and local building codes while preserving asset value and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical & Operational Responsibilities
    • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
    • Oversee and execute preventive maintenance programs for central plant equipment including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, generators, and air handling units
    • Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems.
    • Conduct routine inspections to identify deficiencies and safety hazards
    • Support capital improvement projects, renovations, and major repairs
    • Maintain fire/life safety systems and ensure compliance with OSHA and local codes
    • Respond to emergency maintenance situations and participate in on-call rotation
    • Maintain accurate documentation in CMMS or work order tracking systems
    • Ensure proper inventory control of parts, tools, and supplies
    • Support sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency programs

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Trade school certification, technical college degree, or vocational training in HVAC, electrical systems, mechanical engineering technology, or related field
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 4–6 years of progressive engineering or facilities maintenance experience in a hotel, resort, or commercial property environment preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Experience with central plant systems and energy management systems required
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs required

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required
  • Pool Operator Certification (CPO) preferred
  • Applicable trade licensing (electrical, boiler, HVAC) preferred
