Sales Estimator — HVAC Controls / Building Automation


Reports to: Project Operations Manager

Location: On-site in Marietta, Georgia, with travel to job sites and pre-bid meetings as needed


About the role

We're a growing building automation contractor specializing in HVAC controls for commercial buildings. We're looking for a Sales Estimator to own accurate, timely bids and start building the client relationships that keep our pipeline full. This role is central to how we grow and will play a pivitol position in the future of the organization.


What you'll do

• Prepare accurate takeoffs and cost estimates for HVAC controls and building automation projects using Bid Tracer

• Provide conceptual design and pricing to support CAPx and budgetary efforts

• Oversee all aspects of pre-construction of projects to ensure optimal customer service, efficient use of resources including time, and meeting departmental strategic & budgetary goals

• Review and QC estimates prepared by others for accuracy and completeness before submission

• Partner with engineering and operations leadership to scope controls points, labor hours, and equipment pricing

• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and building owners to source bid opportunities

• Track and manage the sales pipeline

• Follow up on submitted proposals to improve close rate

• Represent the company at pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed

• Support other departments as necessary within Maxair


Requirements:

What you bring

• 1 or more years of estimating experience in mechanical, electrical, or controls contracting — or 3+ years of mechanical, electrical, or controls field experience

• Ability to read, interpret, and take off mechanical/controls plans and specifications

• Ability to understand the why and how a controls system operates

• Ability to successfully manage timelines and expectations for both external and internal customers

• Ability to confidently negotiate pricing and scope to align with organizational goals

• Ability to effectively communicate across various mediums including face to face and email

• Strong attention to detail and comfort working in estimating/bid-tracking software

• Valid driver's license for site visits
