Job description

Snapshot / Role Overview

We're looking for a Building Automation Technician on the Central Coast, in the Santa Barbara County area, to install, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation systems in commercial facilities for a controls contractor.

  • Keep systems running through steady preventive maintenance.
  • Grow into programming and commissioning with a team that teaches.

Responsibilities

  • Install, wire, and terminate controllers, sensors, and field devices.
  • Calibrate sensors, thermostats, and field devices.
  • Assist lead programmers and project managers during commissioning and startup.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and wiring with meters and diagnostic tools.
  • Read mechanical and electrical blueprints.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including firmware updates and device checks.
  • Document as-built conditions and configurations.
  • Coordinate with other trades on sequencing and integration.

Must-Haves

  • One to two years in building automation, HVAC controls, or electrical trades.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints.
  • Hands-on low-voltage wiring and control device installation.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Tridium Niagara, Distech, or Siemens experience.
  • EPA 608 or OSHA 10.
  • Commissioning or startup experience on commercial HVAC.
