Job Description Technical Building Automation Sales Engineer Location: Greater Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth (Remote / Field-Based) Type: Full-Time Industry: Commercial Building Automation (BAS) Overview A growing building automation service company is seeking an experienced Technical Building Automation Sales Engineer to establish and grow its presence in the Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth market. This is not a traditional inside or transactional sales role. This position is designed for a senior, hands-on BAS professional who understands commercial building automation systems end-to-end and can leverage that technical credibility to drive business development.

You will spend time supporting, programming, troubleshooting, and servicing BAS systems, while also identifying opportunities, engaging customers, and helping build a new regional operation from the ground up. There is no existing local office or team in these markets today. The right candidate is comfortable working independently, building relationships, and wearing multiple hats early on.

Key Responsibilities Technical Execution Install, configure, program, and service commercial building automation systems Perform basic system troubleshooting and diagnostics related to: Field devices Wiring and I/O Network communications Control logic Read and interpret: Mechanical drawings Electrical drawings Controls drawings Submittals and sequences of operation Support project activities from startup through closeout, including: Point-to-point checkout Basic functional testing Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and senior technicians to support project execution Provide on-site technical support and assist customers with BAS-related questions Complete work in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality expectations Sales & Business Development Act as a technical sales resource for customers and prospects Identify service, retrofit, expansion, and optimization opportunities Support pre-sales activities including: Technical discovery Scope definition Solution recommendations Build long-term relationships with: Building owners Facility managers Mechanical contractors Engineers and consultants Represent the company as the local technical authority in the market Help lay the groundwork for future team and office expansion in the region Required Experience & Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with commercial building automation systems Background as a BAS Technician, Programmer, Service Engineer, or Controls Engineer Proven ability to: Program and troubleshoot BAS systems in live commercial environments Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders Experience working independently in customer-facing roles Comfortable balancing technical delivery with customer engagement and sales activity Willing to travel locally within the assigned metro area Preferred Experience Experience supporting or selling BAS service, retrofits, or controls upgrades Exposure to major BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Distech, Automated Logic, etc.) Experience working directly with: Commercial office buildings Healthcare facilities Higher education Industrial or mission-critical facilities
