Job description

Trinetix is looking for a proactive and technically skilled Backbone Build Engineer.

Join our team and work with Arelion, one of the world's leading Tier-1 Internet providers, operating one of the largest and most reliable global IP backbone networks. With more than 30 years of experience and connectivity spanning over 100 countries, Arelion delivers missionโ€‘critical network services to telecom operators, hyperscalers, cloud providers, content platforms, and global enterprises.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the backbone infrastructure that powers the Internet while growing your career in an international, fastโ€‘paced engineering environment.

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering critical backbone infrastructure projects, including data center migrations, fiber deployments, and capacity upgrades. Working within a fastโ€‘paced, multivendor ecosystem, you will manage supplier relationships and help ensure the timely and successful delivery of services.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute data center and customer circuit migrations.
  • Coordinate with thirdโ€‘party providers to install new fiber and deliver services (e.g., tails, crossโ€‘connects).
  • Work closely with field technicians to verify fiber patching and physical connectivity.
  • Validate fiber connections and troubleshoot issues related to DWDM backbone link onboarding.
  • Manage escalations and drive resolution for highโ€‘impact infrastructure issues.
  • Ensure timely and quality delivery of backbone orders by staying on top of supplier commitments.
  • Perform network configuration and troubleshooting using CLI across various network operating systems (Cisco IOS, Junos, Arista EOS).
Requirements
  • Solid experience in network infrastructure projects, especially data center migrations and fiber installations.
  • Handsโ€‘on experience with CLI in a multivendor environment (Cisco IOS, Junos, Arista EOS).
  • Familiarity with DWDM systems for verification and troubleshooting of fiber connectivity.
  • Proven ability to manage suppliers and coordinate service delivery (e.g., fiber, tails, crossโ€‘connects).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and configurations.
  • Excellent problemโ€‘solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills across internal teams and external partners.

  • Certifications such as CCNA or equivalent (not mandatory but appreciated).
