Job Information

Responsible for test stand troubleshooting and development pertaining PAFC production test, PAFC short stack testing, PEM Electrolyzer stack, and engineering verification stands. Typical tasks include Customer/Engineering Team Requirements Generation, Budget Request, Issue Charge Number, Team Formation / Statement of work Generation (Outsource) for starting a project. Project phase starts with development of concept which includes hardware aspects such as component replacement / upgrades or new component selection with additional features. Software phase includes working with onsite LabVIEW expert on overhaul and bug fixes. After concept, next steps include build phase, verification & validation phase, readiness review which includes stand and product safety aspects, commissioning, and project closeout. This role requires a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and the role, while continuing to develop specialized discipline knowledge. Works with moderate guidance on projects and more complex work assignments. Role emphasizes ongoing focus on employee and career development of self and others within the discipline.

Role & Responsibility
  • Focus technical skills of on hardware selection, custom component determination, component modeling, building component test rigs, running performance tests, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with onsite LabVIEW expert to understand / implement hardware changes into test stand software.
  • Focus on root cause analysis regarding variance resolution and ensure up to date standard of work documentation.
  • Proactively identify patterns in conflicting information and constructively resolve.
  • With moderate guidance and direction, generate component specifications from component-level requirement documents, and review prior to formal pursuit.
  • Share component specifications with potential suppliers to identify suitable Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) component availability or develop suitable parts.
  • Ensure new componentry has been validated and thoroughly documented prior to production release.
Job Requirement

Education & Experience:

  • BS degree with 2-5+ years of experience

  • MS degree with 0-2+ years of experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree

Knowledge & Skill:

  • Knowledge of technical componentry, instrumentation, and process engineering

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective supplier relationships

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Effective computer skills. LabVIEW knowledge a strong plus.
