What you'll bring:

We are seeking an on-site Lead Software Engineer (Geospatial) to architect, develop, and scale our next-generation GIS, AI, and enterprise software solutions. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across geospatial platforms, AI-enabled capabilities, frontend applications, backend services, APIs, and enterprise data platforms.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities to deliver complex software solutions across the Esri ecosystem, artificial intelligence, cloud environments, and full-stack application development. You will partner closely with Product Managers, Architects, GIS Analysts, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to translate telecom network infrastructure and field operational requirements into scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions.

What you'll do:

  • Technical Leadership & AI Augmentation

    • Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of enterprise software platforms.

    • Provide technical direction, guidance, and mentoring to software engineers and development teams.

    • Lead architecture design reviews, code reviews, and technology evaluations while establishing engineering best practices.

    • Drive innovation through AI engineering, automation, cloud modernization, and emerging technologies.

    • Champion AI-driven development workflows, maximizing the use of AI pair-programming tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate development cycles.

  • GIS and Geospatial Development

    • Lead development of modern web applications, designing complex, responsive UI components and custom enterprise-grade widgets from scratch using React, TypeScript, and the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript (4.x) within ArcGIS Experience Builder.

    • Configure, extend, and automate business processes utilizing ArcGIS Workflow Manager to orchestrate tasks across GIS and non-GIS operational teams.

    • Design and build scalable geospatial services supporting site selection, network planning, fiber routing, wireless coverage analysis, spatial modeling, and asset management.

    • Develop advanced spatial capabilities including polygon analysis, buffer operations, spatial joints, geofencing, routing, and proximity analysis.

    • Optimize geospatial performance through spatial indexing, caching, vector tiles, ArcSDE tuning, and efficient spatial query design.

  • Artificial Intelligence and Automation

    • Build, deploy, and integrate Machine Learning (ML) and Geospatial AI (GeoAI) workflows, utilizing predictive modeling and deep learning to extract spatial patterns, automate feature extraction, and perform advanced network analytics.

    • Design and implement AI-powered solutions using Generative AI, agentic AI, and intelligent automation frameworks. Develop AI orchestration services integrating LLMs, business tools, APIs, and enterprise data sources.

    • Implement responsible AI practices, governance, monitoring, and operational controls while creating reusable AI services, agents, and APIs supporting business applications.

  • Backend Development & System Integration

    • Build robust, high-performance, and scalable backend services, microservices, and RESTful APIs with an emphasis on Python and FastAPI.

    • Maintain and integrate with broader enterprise backend solutions utilizing C#, .NET, Java, or Node.js in an event-driven architecture.

    • Integrate Esri enterprise solutions (ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, Server) with internal business systems while improving reliability, scalability, observability, and security.

  • Data and Cloud Engineering

    • Deploy, manage, and scale secure applications within the Microsoft Azure cloud environment.

    • Design and support enterprise data architectures, developing ETL/ELT pipelines and automation workflows that handle smart form data captured via ArcGIS Survey123 (including XLSForm design and Survey123 Connect).

    • Optimize spatial databases, complex queries, and data workflows across Oracle (Oracle Spatial), PostgreSQL (PostGIS), and modern data warehouses like Snowflake and Databricks.

What you'll need:

  • Required Experience:

    • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years leading technical teams, projects, or architecture initiatives.

  • Required Qualifications:

    • Deep expertise in relational and spatial databases, specifically Oracle (Oracle Spatial) and PostgreSQL (PostGIS), including database design, query optimization, and ArcSDE tuning.

    • Proficiency in leveraging AI-driven development workflows, specifically utilizing GitHub and GitHub Copilot for code generation, optimization, and unit testing.

    • Mastery of React and TypeScript for building custom enterprise-grade Experience Builder widgets.

    • Deep enterprise expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, and the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.

    • Proven experience implementing ArcGIS Workflow Manager for process orchestration and designing advanced smart forms using ArcGIS Survey123.

    • Strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience building production-ready RESTful APIs with FastAPI.

    • Proven experience deploying, managing, and scaling applications within Microsoft Azure.

    • Mastery of Git, CI/CD pipelines, software architecture patterns, and containerization (Docker).

  • Desired Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with DevSecOps methodologies, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
