The main difference is that a Budtender In The typically emphasizes in-depth product knowledge and customer consultation, whereas a Dispensary Associate may focus more on general retail tasks. Both roles are customer-facing and work in dispensaries, but the Budtender In The often requires more specialized cannabis knowledge.

Are budtenders allowed to be high on the job?

Budtenders are generally not permitted to be under the influence of cannabis or other substances while working, as it can impair judgment and customer service. Most dispensaries have strict policies requiring employees to remain sober during shifts and may conduct drug tests to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.

Getting hired as a budtender can vary depending on location and the number of available positions, but generally, it requires good customer service skills, knowledge of cannabis products, and sometimes a background check or certification. Employers often look for candidates with a friendly attitude and familiarity with the industry, making experience and training beneficial. Competition may be moderate, especially in areas with many dispensaries, but strong communication skills can improve chances of employment.

What does a budtender do exactly?

A budtender is a retail employee who assists customers in selecting cannabis products, provides product information, and ensures compliance with legal regulations. They often have knowledge of different strains, consumption methods, and may handle transactions using point-of-sale systems. Customer service skills and understanding of local laws are essential for this role.

Where do budtenders get paid the most?

Budtenders tend to earn higher wages in states or regions where cannabis sales are legal and the industry is well-established, often due to higher living costs and demand. States with recreational cannabis laws typically offer higher pay rates compared to those with only medical programs, and larger dispensaries or chains may also provide better compensation packages.
