Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 72,000 individuals and families each year at our 100 locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families live in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
CAMBA's The Kings Inn Family Shelter is funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services and offers families a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. It provides comprehensive case management services to 100 families who are in a transitional residence program for homeless families. The two story facility has rooms of various sizes, common areas and provides on-site security and social services.
Position: Vice President (Shelter Director)
Reports To: Executive Vice-President

What The Vice President Does:
  • Ensure that all direct and subordinate staff complies with CAMBA's and funders' polices and rules.
  • Oversee all program operations and manage direct reporting program staff and their subordinates.
  • Develop and implement Quality Assurance measures to ensure quality service delivery to clients.
  • Ensure that all client files and program files are kept in compliance with CAMBA's and funder's standards.
  • Direct, coordinate, supervise and document programmatic activities facilitated by direct reporting staff.
  • Observe staff engaging with clients and/or supervisors and their direct reports.
  • Conduct client and program progress reviews with staff.
  • Prepare, review and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of, contract reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use.
  • Analyze program and demographic data to make programmatic improvements.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Oversee onsite and organize offsite training opportunities for professional development of staff.
  • Ensure that the site meets all regulatory compliance (i.e.-health, DHS, OTDA, Callahan, RSRI, safety, and fire department).
  • Ensure that all housing goals, targets, and performance outcomes are met on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
  • Ensure staff utilization of electronic database and conduct oversight to ensure data integrity.
  • Direct and coordinate the hiring and firing of shelter staff (in consultation and agreement with Human Resources).
  • Ensure that any disciplinary action taken, regarding staff, is in compliance with CAMBA's disciplinary policy and procedure.
  • Liaison with community leaders and groups to build connections, gain support and troubleshoot issues/concerns.
  • Initiate and proactively create solutions to address gaps in shelter services or staff performance (i.e., basic computer training use of technology).
  • Address and implement resolutions to client/staff complaints in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement crisis prevention and/or intervention strategies to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Interact and troubleshoot issues with subcontractors and vendors (i.e.-food, medical, laundry, technology, etc.)
  • Review and sign time sheets.
  • Supervise, review and approve staff and subordinates' training, vacation and leave.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting program staff.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. (A license is required of these Master's Degrees: Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, Art Therapy).
  • Three years of supervisory experience in a similar role, preferably in a mid-sized (250+ employees) organization.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Must sign NYC DOH/MH attestation stating that candidate has not been the subject of a founded child abuse report.
  • May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified.
  • May be required to become certified in overdose prevention.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.

Compensation:-$95,000- $100,000 annually-
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
Status: -Full-time (35 hours per week)-
