Transportation Driver

Buckland strives to provide customized services in a memorable way.

Buckland is looking for a Transportation Driver.

This position will be primarily required to safely operate company vehicles while transporting goods and materials for customers for pickup and delivery. This position will be required to cross the border to the Buckland Warehouse in Port Huron, MI. The Transportation Driver will be required to load and unload their truck daily as well assist with warehouse duties on occasion when work warrants.

You will be responsible for:

  • Operating straight trucks to transport goods and materials in a safe and timely manner.
  • Complying with applicable legislation including carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of goods, customs and immigration and weights and dimensions.
  • Checking all cargo related documentation, and recording hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • Performing pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspection, reporting any issues and overseeing all aspects of safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Reporting vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicles promptly.
  • Using cross-border and e-logs software as well as necessary communication technology.
  • Assisting in loading and unloading trucks.
  • Effectively using cross-border and e-logs software.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

What we need from you:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • DZ license required
  • Current copy of Personal Drivers Abstract
  • FAST Card / Valid Passport for Border Crossing
  • Must be able and willing to travel to the USA
  • Must be able to work with little supervision and have self-direction
  • Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Must be able to meet insurable requirements from organization Insurance provider in order to be insured
  • Eligibility to consistently qualify to be insured by ILDS Insurance provider.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
  • Valid Passport with ability to travel USA
