Job description

Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Final Inspector who will support technicians/engineers with complex tasks and performs inspection of products and performs essential duties to meet customer and AS9100 requirements. The position performs final inspections on products using internal documents (i.e.: GPS, GMS, GOS and GWI). This position also works on quality-related projects with direction from the Quality Manager.

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all company policies, quality procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Comprehend and ensure compliance with internal quality documents, and customer specifications
  • Read and understand customer specifications, process standards, drawings (blue prints), ANSI procedures, and industry standards.
  • Able to either stand up or be at a computer extensively
  • Utilize internal systems (SAP, NetInspect) to access CMM reports, material certs, test reports, and NCRs.
  • Review work orders for accuracy and confirm all material certifications are valid and complete.
  • Check if part has any non-conformances (NCR’s) and special instructions attached to it.
  • Verify product and process compliance with customer purchase orders and technical standards.
  • Analyze engineering packages and bubble customer drawings and part lists using applicable software.
  • Perform final and in-process inspections using customer drawings, specifications, and internal documentation (GWI, GPS, GMS, GOS, SWI).
  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally using calibrated tools and inspection plans.
  • Use standard AS9102 forms 1, 2 and 3.
  • Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming materials; initiate NCRs as required.
  • Maintain inspection logs and FAI records; print and attach FAIRs to parts prior to shipment.
  • Collaborate with production and CNC teams to coordinate inspection and rework when needed.
  • Work with Quality Engineers and Leads to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Communicate blueprint, BOM, and engineering issues to supervisor or Quality Manager.
  • Use required software: Excel, Word, Acrobat, Email, SAP, NetInspect, DISCUSS, SnagIt.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Computer knowledge on word processing and spread sheets.
  • Language Skills: English
  • Mathematic Skills: Proficient in Mathematics
  • Experience in FAI (First Article Inspection)
  • Analytical skills to read and interpret technical specifications and procedures
  • Ability to comfortably multitask with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Acceptable Vision Test results
