About the Team

The Senior Director, BT Strategic Operations and Enablement is a strategic leadership role responsible for building and leading the operating model that connects Business Technology (BT) strategy to disciplined execution. This leader will bring together key business operations capabilities-including strategic planning, portfolio management, financial and resource management, business alignment, and enablement-under a unified function. This leader will serve as a trusted partner to BT and business leaders, ensuring that priorities, investments, capacity, and delivery commitments are aligned to the highest-value business outcomes. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking, operational rigor, financial acumen, and strong stakeholder leadership to improve decision quality, execution velocity, and organizational effectiveness. The role will establish consistent planning, governance, financial management, and operating practices that enable BT to make informed trade-offs, focus capacity on strategic priorities, and deliver measurable business value.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy, Planning, and Execution -

  • Translate BT and enterprise strategy into actionable operating plans, strategic roadmaps, measurable objectives, and execution cadences.

  • Lead annual and multi-year planning processes, ensuring priorities, capacity, funding, dependencies, and expected outcomes are clearly defined.

  • Establish and maintain management mechanisms that enable leaders to track progress, identify risks, resolve issues, and make timely decisions.

  • Develop executive-ready insights, recommendations, and communications on strategy execution, portfolio performance, and operational health.

2. Portfolio Management and Governance -

  • Lead the BT portfolio-management model, including demand intake, prioritization, investment trade-offs, capacity planning, dependency management, and delivery performance oversight.

  • Establish a consistent governance framework that improves visibility into strategic initiatives, business value, delivery health, risks, and decisions.

  • Partner with BT leaders and business stakeholders to balance competing priorities and ensure investment decisions reflect enterprise strategy and available capacity.

3. Financial and Resource Management -

  • Lead BT financial and resource-management processes, including annual planning, forecasting, spend tracking, investment governance, and financial reporting.

  • Partner closely with Finance and BT leaders to improve transparency, accountability, and active management of BT investments.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize spend, simplify processes, and redeploy capacity toward higher-value strategic work.

  • Develop clear financial narratives that connect technology investments, operating costs, and resource decisions to business outcomes.

4. Business Alignment and Stakeholder Partnership -

  • Create a consistent, high-quality engagement model for business and BT stakeholders.

  • Serve as a key connector between BT strategy, business priorities, Finance, and delivery teams.

  • Facilitate leadership alignment on strategic priorities, portfolio trade-offs, operating decisions, and execution risks.

  • Improve communication, transparency, and accountability across the BT organization and its business partners.

5. Operations and Enablement -

  • Build and lead an integrated BT Operations and Enablement function, bringing related capabilities together under a single operating model.

  • Define and continuously improve BT operating rhythms, including leadership meetings, planning cycles, portfolio reviews, financial reviews, and performance reporting.

  • Drive process standardization and modern delivery practices by scaling fit-for-purpose agile, portfolio, and governance frameworks, common templates, and decision-support tools to improve speed to value.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in business technology, technology strategy, IT portfolio management, strategic planning, transformation, finance, or enterprise operations within a large, complex organization.

  • 15+ years of experience leading strategic planning, multi-year investment portfolios, operating-model transformation, and enterprise-scale execution.

  • 15+ years of experience in financial and resource management, including budget oversight, forecasting, variance analysis, investment governance, and vendor-performance or contract optimization.

  • 12+ years of experience with advancing data, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities to improve technology operations, planning, decision-making, or delivery effectiveness.

  • Portfolio and governance expertise: Deep knowledge of portfolio-governance practices, prioritization methods, stage-gate processes, OKRs, and modern delivery frameworks.

  • Analytical judgment: Ability to synthesize complex operational, financial, and portfolio data into clear insights, recommendations, and executive decisions.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
