Position Summary:

The Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr BSA) bridges business needs and technology solutions by leading business analysis, process discovery, requirements definition, stakeholder alignment, testing coordination, and deployment readiness for both small and complex initiatives. This role has a primary focus on Oil Trading, supporting the procurement, planning, and financial management of oil commodities, critical to manufacturing operations. The Sr BSA partners closely with Oil Trading, Finance, Revenue Management, Procurement, Supply Chain teams to support business processes that manage positions, demand planning, supply optimization, pricing, and profitability. In SaaS and packaged-platform environments, the Sr BSA applies a fit-to-standard mindset, helping business partners align processes to scalable platform capabilities while ensuring configuration, integrations, data integrity, financial controls, reporting, forecasting, user experience, adoption, and downstream operational impacts are understood and addressed.

As a member of the Business Engagement Team, the Sr BSA serves as a key liaison between business partners, Functional BAs, platform teams, developers, vendors, solution architects, and IT leadership to ensure delivered solutions meet business outcomes and enterprise standards. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Each Senior BSA role is aligned to a specific enterprise value stream and is expected to develop strong end-to-end process knowledge, partner closely with business and IT stakeholders, and help ensure requirements, testing, and solutions support efficient, integrated outcomes across the full lifecycle of that value stream.
 
The primary focus area for this position is Oil Value Trading. You will lead business systems analysis for the Oil Value Trading value stream, partnering across Commercial, Oil Trading, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and IT to improve process rigor, visibility, and solution effectiveness across Oracle Fusion and CTRM platforms.
  • Shape Demand: Support and partner in the identification and prioritization of business opportunities / ideas, focusing on long-term strategic goals. Lead the cultivation and refinement of these business ideas into actionable demands including comprehensive business cases.
  • Process Analysis: Conduct detailed assessments of current business processes using flowcharts and analytical tools to document and help identify gaps, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement which can be addressed through the use of technology. 
  • Business Requirements: Lead the elicitation and documentation of complex, cross-functional business requirements for corporate and strategic priority initiatives. 
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure business requirements are met by partnering with the QA team in blackbox testing and leading UAT efforts, including test strategy, planning, execution, and issue resolution along. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success. Engage in post-implementation reviews to identify lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate effective communications between business partners, delivery teams, and executive stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and Training: Guide less experienced and new BSA team members. Also work with Training and Development to create effective training media and training plans for end users of solutions.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Engineering, or Business
  • 5-10 years of progressively increasing responsibility as a BSA
  • Experience supporting supply planning and inventory optimization, including demand forecasting, replenishment planning, and multi-site supply balancing.
  • Equivalent business experience, with extensive involvement in process analysis, process design and documentation
  • Involvement in complex large scale and high impact projects/platform implementations that add significant business value.
  • Experience supporting Oil Value Trading or commodity trading value streams, including trade capture, scheduling, logistics, settlement, risk, and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience performing end-to-end process analysis for complex, transaction-heavy environments with high controls and data accuracy requirements.
  • Experience leading UAT strategy and execution for trading or finance-related platforms, including coordination with business SMEs and QA teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Financials and CTRM platforms (or similar trading and risk management systems) strongly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge in multiple functional areas or be an expert in at least one of the following: Logistics, Product Lifecycle Management, and corporate systems (HR, Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, and/or Operations).
  • Demonstrate deep process knowledge of key end to end processes like Oil Value Trading or Commodity Trading Value Streams.
  • Ability to perform system and process analysis duties including flow charting and value stream mapping using process and software documentation tools.
  • Strong ability to partner with Oil Trading, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and IT to define and deliver integrated trading solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Financials and CTRM platforms (or similar trading and risk management systems) strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to process rigor, auditability, and operational reliability.
  • Ability to elicit and document requirements related to pricing, exposure, reconciliations, approvals, and financial integration.
  • Has direct participation and experience with multiple software platform implementations.
  • Prior experience with process improvement methodologies and tools (Kaizen, Six Sigma, Green/Black Belt, etc).
  • Understanding of data systems, databases, software development life cycle, and information and application architecture.
  • Experience leading the development of UAT and QA testing plans and cases.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software and technology. 
  • Project management skills a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
