Responsibilities
Noblis is working with FAA to manage large and complex telecommunications and information management programs that use state of the art technologies to deliver enterprise infrastructure services essential to the safe and efficient operation of the largest, safest, and most complex aviation system in the world. Enterprise Information Display System (E-IDS) is a new system under development that will provide a modern auxilliary information display to Air Traffic Controllers in the National Airspace System (NAS). E-IDS will consolidate several legacy IDS systems into a common platform to provide controllers with current and consistent information needed to perform air traffic operations from both local and enterprise sources. E-IDS will use a common hardware and software platform across over 400 NAS facilities, including En Route, Terminal, Tower, and Offshore domains.
The E-IDS Test Engineer will support the analysis, planning, design, and execution of the Development Test programs for the E-IDS. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing requirements, reviewing contractor deliverables, developing test plans and procedures, and designing and developing automated performance test scripts, and executing tests.
Work Location: Candidates must be able to work on-site in the William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City, NJ, and be able to travel up to 25% as required by the duties of the job.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and reports to evaluate the functional capabilities, performance, reliability, and other aspects of the E-IDS system
  • Perform complex testing and analysis of software, networks, and cloud-based systems
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in design, development, and implementation of test processes and test support tools
  • Utilize start-of-the-art DevOps tools to plan, develop, and report test activities
  • Utilize test automation suites such as Playwright to design, develop, and execute automated system performance tests
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and enhance test automations using Java, Javascript, Python, and other scripting and programming languages
  • Develop scripts, software, data sets, simulations, and other assets required to fully evaluate the E-IDS system
  • Support integration, maintenance, and operations of the E-IDS laboratory using contractor-developed tools and COTS including Ansible
  • Review and develop documentation to include, but not limited to: requirements and interface specifications, test plans and procedures, user documentation, training material, technical instruction material, maintenance plans
  • Participate in TIMs and other meetings with program stakeholders
  • Travel to FAA Operational Locations may be required.

Required Qualifications
  • Mid-Level:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineer, Information Systems or related field.
    • 10-14 years' experience.
    • 5 years of additional experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
    • Compensation range: $78,900 - $110,000
  • Senior-Level:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineer, Information Systems or related field.
    • 15-19 years' experience.
    • 5 years of additional experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
    • Compensation range: $95,500 - $134,280
  • Experience in testing large, complex computer systems
  • Linux system administration experience
  • Familiarity with simulation and test automation tools such as Playwright or Selenium
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card permanent residency (3+ years U.S. residency)
  • Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust clearance

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and Python
  • Experience with validation and verification of FAA NAS systems, particularly DT

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.
