What You'll Be Doing
We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join our Biotechnology Equity Research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medicine/science (PhD/MD a plus) with 2+ years of relevant experience (consulting, banking, equity research, etc.) and a strong understanding of the biotech industry/stocks.
What We're Looking For
  • Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis of biotechnology companies, assessing pre-clinical/clinical data, scientific risk, and commercial/competitive dynamics
  • Lead diligence calls with physicians, scientists, and other external experts
  • Communicate/present ideas to Analyst and develop written product synthesizing research into an informed investment thesis
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, including drug forecasts, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and discounted cash flow analysis
  • Monitor industry and macro trends impacting the sector
  • Clearly state and defend the Analyst's investment thesis and outlook for each of the stocks under coverage
  • Respond to basic questions from institutional sales and clients regarding covered companies, and industry questions and data requests
  • Some travel (up to 20%)

Education & Experience
  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline; PhD and/or MD preferred
  • Minimum Required: 2 to 4 years of relevant industry experience (consulting, banking, equity research) with a strong interest in the biotech industry

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

Compensation Range
Salary: USD $110,000.00/Yr. - USD $175,000.00/Yr.

The base salary is one component of Stifel's overall compensation package for each individual employee.
