California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Computer Science. Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus California State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. Student Population. Cal Poly Pomona is the number one polytechnic university in the nation for student diversity and economic mobility. College of Science: The College's mission is to educate, mentor, and inspire students through scientific inquiry and hands-on learning. It offers 15 undergraduate degree programs and six Master's degrees across seven academic departments that include: Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Computer Science, Geological Sciences, Kinesiology & Health Promotion, Mathematics & Statistics, and Physics & Astronomy. Our Center for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (CEMaST) supports K-16 education locally and nationally to increase STEM success and participation for all. The College of Science has approximately 150 full-time faculty, 40 staff, and 4,400 active majors. Department of Computer Science: The Department of Computer Science at Cal Poly Pomona has a strong ABET accredited B.S. program, as well as a high-quality M.S. program, with 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 19 part-time lecturers. We embody the principle of an engaged teacher-scholar model which emphasizes the learning by doing philosophy. We are an inclusive group of faculty from diverse backgrounds teaching a very diverse group of students. Position description: The Department of Computer Science at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, appointment effective Fall 2027.  We have a strong commitment to inclusive excellence and to educational experiences that leverage the diverse perspectives and experiences needed to succeed and thrive in a diverse society. Duties and responsibilities: actively engage in the teaching, research and curricular development activities of the department at both undergraduate and graduate levels; actively engage in department/university services.

Minimum requirements include:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related area from an accredited university. (Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.)
• Demonstrated potential to establish an active research program with undergraduate and/or master's students.
• Demonstrated potential for excellent teaching of a broad range of undergraduate courses and graduate courses in Computer Science.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to candidates in any of the areas of AI, Generative AI, Physical AI, NLP, Machine and Deep Learning, Computer Vision, applying AI to other CS subfields.
• Candidates in other major computer science areas will also be considered and are thus highly encouraged to apply.
• University teaching experience, including teaching assistant experience.
• Ability to develop/establish an active and sustainable research program based on their specialties.
• Experience of conducting scholarly research activities with undergraduate and/or graduate students.

• List of undergraduate and graduate courses the candidate is prepared to teach, courses the candidate can teach with additional preparation, and courses the candidate would like to develop (see CS Catalog).

• Unofficial transcripts (undergraduate and graduate degrees, official transcripts will be required of finalists).

Finalists for the position will be required to:

• Provide official transcripts for highest degree before the on-campus interview;
• Provide three letters of reference dated within the last two years;
• Create presentations of scholarly work and a teaching demonstration for faculty and students.
