JOB SUMMARY
The Respiratory Therapy Interventional Bronchoscopy Lead is responsible for the coordination, daily operations, and clinical oversight of interventional bronchoscopy services across multiple procedural areas, including Endoscopy and the Cardiac Operating Rooms. This role serves as the primary liaison between Endoscopy/OR and Interventional Pulmonology to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care. The Lead supports clinical staff, manages workflows, and oversees equipment, scheduling, and process improvement initiatives across all service lines utilizing interventional bronchoscopy. Additionally, this individual will perform all of the duties and responsibilities of a Licensed Respiratory Therapist according to NCH policy and procedure. The Therapist will function independently with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates day-to-day bronchoscopy operations in Endoscopy and Cardiac OR environments.
• Ensures appropriate staffing, equipment availability, and room readiness for scheduled and emergent cases.
• Serves as the primary clinical and operational resource for interventional bronchoscopy procedures.
• Supports robotic and advanced bronchoscopy programs across all procedural areas.
• Collaborates with OR, Endoscopy, Respiratory, and physician teams to optimize case flow and turnover times.
• In coordination with endoscopy leadership Develops and maintain bronchoscopy schedules in coordination with procedural areas and service lines.
• In coordination with endoscopy leadership Monitors case volumes, utilization, and workflow metrics; identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provides insight to endoscopy leadership in budgeting, capital planning, and equipment procurement.
• Assists with onboarding, training, and competency validation for endoscopy staff supporting bronchoscopy services.
• Ensures adherence to infection prevention, reprocessing, and equipment handling standards.
• Supports compliance with Joint Commission, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives related to bronchoscopy services.
• Provides clinical education and hands-on support for new technologies, procedures, and workflows.
• Assists in developing policies, procedures, and best practices for interventional bronchoscopy.
• Supports research, clinical trials, and program growth initiatives when applicable.
• Participation in on-call, weekend, or after-hours support as needed for urgent cases.
• Correctly follows all Respiratory Care protocols as ordered and reports any pertinent changes in care plans.
• Safely and correctly performs arterial puncture to include Allen's testing. Also, correctly utilizes the blood gas
• systems to analyze and report Arterial Blood Gas results as required by accrediting agencies.
• Identifies and properly operates general Respiratory Care equipment to include, but not limited to the following: pneumatic precursors, compressors, bipap units for sleep apnea, disinfection machines/supplies, nebulizers, MDI & spacers, incentive spirometers, bedside spirometers, NIF manometers, pulse oximeters, peak flowmeters,
manual resuscitators, oscillatory valves, therapy vest, pap, and oxygen devices.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of an Associates Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in respiratory managing high acuity, critically ill patients.
• Experience in bronchoscopy/interventional pulmonary preferred.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
