Overview
The Videographer is responsible for creating compelling visual storytelling that promotes Auburn University at Montgomery's mission, academic programs, student experience, faculty achievements, and community impact. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Marketing & Communications, this position serves as the university's primary video content creator, producing high-quality videos for enrollment marketing, digital advertising, social media, web, athletics, advancement, public relations, and internal communications.
The Videographer collaborates with university stakeholders to develop creative concepts, capture video and audio, edit content, and deliver engaging multimedia projects that strengthen AUM's brand and support strategic enrollment and communication goals.

Responsibilities
Video Production
  • Plan, shoot, and edit professional-quality video content for marketing, recruitment, branding, fundraising, athletics, and university communications.
  • Produce a variety of content including:

    • Admissions and recruitment videos
    • Social media content
    • Event coverage
    • Commercials and promotional campaigns
    • Donor and alumni stories
  • Manage projects from concept development through final delivery.

Storytelling & Creative Development
  • Collaborate with university departments to identify compelling stories that showcase the AUM experience.
  • Develop creative concepts, scripts, storyboards, and interview questions.
  • Ensure all content aligns with AUM's brand standards, messaging, and strategic objectives.
  • Identify emerging video trends and recommend innovative approaches for audience engagement.

Photography & Content Creation
  • Capture high-quality photography as needed to support university marketing initiatives.
  • Create short-form and long-form content optimized for:

Post-Production
  • Edit video footage using professional editing software.
  • Perform color correction, audio enhancement, motion graphics, captioning, and visual effects.

Equipment & Asset Management
  • Maintain and operate professional video, audio, lighting, and photography equipment.
  • Manage video archives, digital assets, and project files.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and equipment to improve production quality and efficiency.

Event Coverage
  • Provide video and photography coverage for university events including:
    • Commencement
    • Orientation
    • Athletics

Collaboration & Support
  • Work closely with marketing strategists, photographers, designers, writers, enrollment management staff, and university leadership.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Media, Film Production, Marketing, Journalism, Multimedia Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in video production, videography, multimedia storytelling, or related work.
  • Demonstrated experience shooting and editing professional video content.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of professional videography experience.
  • Experience in higher education, agency, media, marketing, or communications environments.
  • Drone pilot certification (FAA Part 107) or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience with livestream production and event broadcasting.
  • Strong photography skills.
