Job Summary/Description:

Help shape the future of broadcasting at WSFA, Central Alabama’s trusted news leader. From breaking news and severe weather to live sports and streaming, our technology drives everything. We’re looking for a hands-on Broadcast/IT Engineer who loves fast-paced live TV and cutting-edge broadcast + IT systems. You’ll work in our state-of-the-art facility and help modernize a market-leading station. The systems you maintain and improve power critical journalism, emergency coverage, and community service every day. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Work with Ross OverDrive, Ross Carbonite, Evertz routing, ENPS, SDI + IP workflows, enterprise networking/VLANs, digital transmission, and file-based production/playout systems.
• Support live and recorded programming across the studio, control room, newsroom, and post-production
• Troubleshoot and maintain broadcast, IT, RF, and IP-based systems
• Install/repair/upgrade equipment and infrastructure; perform preventative maintenance
• Support Ross OverDrive automated news production workflows
• Maintain audio/video routing, editing, storage, record/playout, and transmission systems
• Support network infrastructure, security, documentation, and FCC compliance
• Collaborate across News, Production, Creative Services, Sales, Engineering, and IT
• Provide on-call support as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 5+ years in broadcast engineering, IT, or related technical work (preferred)
• Experience in live TV production environments
• Knowledge of SDI signal flow, routing, audio distribution/monitoring
• Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, broadcast IT infrastructure)
• RF/transmitter experience is a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and vendor coordination skills
