Job description

We are seeking a skilled Highway Bridge Carpenter to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to build and construct bridge columns, decks, and caps, primarily by constructing forms for concrete. In addition to carpentry work, the Highway Bridge Carpenter will assist in various general tasks on the job site, contributing to the safe and efficient execution of bridge construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Form Construction: Build wood and metal forms for bridge columns, decks, and caps to be used in concrete pouring.
  • Pile Driving: Operate equipment for driving pile and assist in preparing the site for the construction of bridge foundations.
  • Form Erection amp; Dismantling: Erect and wreck forms as part of the bridge construction process.
  • Steel Work: Set and tie steel for bridge structures to ensure proper reinforcement.
  • Concrete Work: Assist in pouring and finishing concrete for bridge columns, decks, and caps.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload construction materials, ensuring materials are safely transported and stored.
  • Grade Maintenance: Check and maintain grade stakes to ensure accurate construction specifications are met.
  • Traffic Control: Set up and maintain all traffic control aids to ensure safety for workers and the public near the construction site.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience in carpentry, particularly in bridge construction, is highly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, and bend for extended periods. Occasional lifting of materials weighing 10 to 50 pounds is required.
  • Work at Heights: Comfortable working at heights, such as on bridge beams or bridge caps, when necessary.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English to comply with safety regulations.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to reach job sites in designated project areas.
  • Safety: Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work in a high-risk construction environment.
