Overhead Crane Operator

Location: Houston, TX 77028

Position Summary

We are seeking a safety-focused and dependable Overhead Crane Operator to join our steel operations team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating overhead bridge cranes in a steel service center, warehouse, fabrication shop, or manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for safely moving, loading, unloading, and staging steel products while maintaining productivity and adherence to safety standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead bridge cranes to move steel beams, plates, and other steel products throughout the facility.
  • Safely load and unload trucks, trailers, and railcars.
  • Stage materials for production, shipping, and customer orders.
  • Perform daily inspections of cranes, lifting devices, chains, slings, and hooks.
  • Verify material identification and ensure proper handling procedures are followed.
  • Work closely with shipping, receiving, warehouse, and production personnel to meet operational goals.
  • Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, and material organization.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and damaged materials to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Previous overhead crane operating experience required.
  • Experience handling steel products preferred.
  • Knowledge of rigging practices and load control techniques.
  • Ability to read work orders, shipping documents, and material tags.
  • Experience operating forklifts is a plus.
