What is bridal design?

Bridal design is the specialized field of fashion design focused on creating wedding dresses and accessories for brides. Bridal designers use their creativity and technical skills to develop unique gowns that reflect the bride's personal style, wedding theme, and cultural traditions. This role involves selecting fabrics, sketching designs, overseeing garment construction, and often working closely with clients for custom fittings. Bridal designers also stay updated with the latest trends in wedding fashion to provide innovative and beautiful options for brides-to-be.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a bridal designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Bridal Designer, you need a strong background in fashion design, garment construction, and textile knowledge, often supported by a degree in fashion design or a related field. Proficiency in design software like Adobe Illustrator, CAD systems, and pattern-making tools is commonly required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication with clients help set outstanding designers apart. These skills are crucial for creating unique, high-quality bridal gowns that meet client expectations and industry standards.

What are some common challenges bridal designers face when working with clients, and how can they be addressed?

Bridal designers often encounter challenges such as managing clients' unique visions, working within budget constraints, and accommodating last-minute changes. Clear and frequent communication is essential to ensure expectations are aligned throughout the design process. Additionally, strong organizational skills and flexibility help designers navigate tight timelines and evolving preferences, resulting in a positive experience for both the client and the designer.

Job description

Frank Darling is reimagining fine jewelry for a new generation. We’re a female-founded, design-forward brand known for custom engagement rings, modern bridal jewelry, and a refreshingly transparent, low-pressure shopping experience. Our work has been featured in Vogue, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and more for our approach to design, sustainability, and the future of bridal.

We’re looking for a Bridal Sales Specialist to join our showroom team. This role is focused on helping clients find—or create—the perfect wedding band and bridal stack, from their first question through final purchase.

The ideal candidate loves jewelry and design, has strong sales instincts, and genuinely enjoys helping people make decisions. You’re equally comfortable recommending the perfect band, explaining why two rings don’t quite work together, and helping a client customize something that does.

What You’ll Do
  • Guide clients through the wedding band and bridal jewelry shopping experience from start to finish

  • Style wedding band stacks and make thoughtful recommendations based on engagement ring design, lifestyle, and personal style

  • Advise clients on metals, proportions, fit, durability, stackability, and long-term wear

  • Help clients customize existing Frank Darling designs or develop custom wedding bands

  • Translate client ideas into clear specifications for our design and production teams

  • Respond quickly and thoughtfully to inbound calls, chats, emails, and online inquiries

  • Build strong client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process

  • Confidently close sales while delivering the low-pressure, highly personal experience Frank Darling is known for

  • Meet individual and team sales goals

  • Manage a high volume of clients and follow-ups without losing the details

  • Partner closely with Design, Production, Gemology, and Client Care to create a seamless client experience

  • Stay current on bridal trends, jewelry design, and the Frank Darling collection

You’ll Be Great at This If You
  • Have 1–2+ years of sales experience; fine jewelry, luxury retail, bridal, or design experience is a plus

  • Have a strong eye for design, proportion, and personal style

  • Are warm, empathetic, and confident without being pushy

  • Can make complicated jewelry concepts feel simple and approachable

  • Are highly organized and comfortable juggling many clients at once

  • Take ownership and proactively solve problems

  • Have exceptional attention to detail

  • Are comfortable working toward ambitious sales goals

  • Thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative environment

  • Have experience with Adobe Illustrator or other design tools

Jewelry knowledge is important, but curiosity is just as important. We’re looking for someone who wants to become an expert in wedding bands, bridal styling, and the Frank Darling point of view.

The Fine Print
  • Full-time, on-site role

  • Schedule: Thursday–Monday

  • Typical hours: 10 AM–6 PM

  • 55K-60K base + performance-based bonus

  • Equity

  • Health benefits for full-time employees

  • Unlimited vacation policy

  • Fast-growing startup environment with significant opportunity to learn and grow

Why Frank Darling

Buying wedding jewelry should be fun—not intimidating.

We believe great salespeople don’t pressure clients into buying. They listen, educate, solve problems, and help people feel genuinely excited and confident about what they choose.

If you love design, people, jewelry, and the idea of making one of life’s biggest purchases feel a whole lot easier, we’d love to meet you.
