The Maintenance Carpenter is responsible for independently managing and executing a range of carpentry and construction tasks, including framing, finishing, concrete work, block and brick laying, ceiling grid installation, and flooring. The Maintenance Carpenter applies advanced knowledge of construction techniques and ensures high-quality workmanship and compliance with safety and building codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply construction drawings and blueprints independently
  • Demonstrate advanced assembly and construction techniques, including framing, finishing, woodworking, concrete pouring, block and brick laying, ceiling grid installation, and flooring
  • Perform troubleshooting of construction-related issues, offering solutions and guidance to team members
  • Independently install new construction systems and oversee refurbishments
  • Lead or assist craftsperson teams (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, mechanics) to efficiently complete construction projects
  • Uphold all safety protocols and ensure compliance with LOTO, fall protection, and environmental standards
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to safety regulations and building codes
  • Maintain accurate records of materials, inventory, and tools
  • Perform thorough site cleanup and ensure tools and materials are stored correctly
  • Proactively respond to emergency work requests, utilizing advanced problem-solving skills
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Journeyman or equivalent
  • High proficiency in interpreting and applying construction drawings
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as a team lead, when required
  • Skilled communication for effective leadership and training of less-experienced carpenters
  • Capacity to maintain a flexible schedule, including potential weekends and holidays
  • Valid driverโ€™s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of advanced vocational training in carpentry or a relevant field
  • Extensive experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or a related area
  • In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, safety regulations, and building codes
  • Familiarity with maintenance management software and project management tools
